The Atlanta Hawks recently made a big trade that has dramatically improved there team. Here is how the deal went down:
Hawks get: - Hakim Warrick - Eddy Curry - Hassan Adams - Kerry Kittles - Cuttino Mobley
Sonics get: - Ron Steele - Zarko Carparkaba - Fred Jones - Shawn Marion
The Hawks needed a center after Joel Przybilla broke his skull. They give up some nice role players in Ron Steele, Zarko, and Freddie Jones and most importantly there defensive ace at SF all star Shawn Marion. Though what they gained is even more important. First off they received Eddy Curry in the deal. Plus Hakim Warrick is younger and maybe even better at this moment than Shawn Marion. Hassan Adams, Cuttino Mobley, and Kerry Kittles will provide some very nice guard play off the bench for this team too.
Since this deal, the Hawks have went 5-5. The Hawks record overall is 5-8. While it may not be the final step in getting this squad into the playoffs it is still early and there is plenty of time left to make up for some poor play. What this team needs is defense up front, especially with Przybilla out for nearly 40 more days. Kwame Brown and Eddy Curry don't shine in the defensive department and neither do there bigs off the bench. So another trade might be necessary.
Overall though this team improved quickly with just one trade and look for them to keep on improving. They need to keep getting better because they do not have there first round pick this year so that would make a trip to the lottery worthless.
