Mercer is on a MLE contract, and has 0 Bird years. he cannot be MAXed i did it last season with jp prince Ok. You can offer someone a MAX amount, which means its the most you can offer. But in season extensions only alow for 1 MAX extension now. A MAX extension means the MAX amount a plyer can get, over 7 years. A true MAX deal. You cannot offer this to Mercer since you dont have Bird rights on him. During the Free Agency period, you can offer Mercer the MAX you can give him, which is the same contract you offered to Prince last year.

prince was resigned during the season, before f/a Once again, it pays to keep up with league rules. This was changed this year, and new league rules can be found in the New Rules section of the forum.

This is one part of the league I will just never understand. How a rule can slip by and not be seen by people. I posted it in 3 seperate places, and still people dont see it, not sure what else I can do. Any new rule wont start as soon as its brought up, it will start for the ensuing year.

Spence, in the offseason, would I be able to extend a max offer to DJ Augustin along the lines of the one JP Prince got since he's MLE, or would it be a true max due to my cap space?

K. The FBB game, and FBB leagues, like this one are why this is more confusing then it should be. There is only 1 true MAX offer. That is a full MAX, which is determined by years of experience, or how much the players last contract is.
Any younger player getting their first MAX contract will start at around 13 mill. With Bird rights you can offer a 7 yr contract with 12.5 %. So if you have Bird rights on a player, and if youre under or over the cap, you can offer 7yr contract up to 13 mill with 12.5% increases.
If you dont have Bird rights, and youre under the cap, you can offer as much cap room as you have, up to the MAX offer of 13 mill. You can do 6 yrs and 10% increases.
For teams over the cap, and players with no Bird rights(JP Prince for example)you can offer 120% of their previous contract, with increases of up to 10%. This is why Prince got a contract starting at 5.4 with 10% increases. It was offered by saying MAX. This MAX was the most, or the MAX that Houston could offer. So it wasnt a true MAX offer, it was just the most or MAX the Rockets could offer.
So Aaron, you can offer anyone a 5.4 mill contract, for 6 years with 10% increases. But since you have cap room you can offer him as little or much as you want.
Hope this clears some things up.
