The tops teams in the league are the Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, who are playing below their abilities, New York Knicks.
Here is how these teams break down:
Detroit Pistons. Starting five is Memo Okur, J.O’Neal, Lamar Odom, Paul Pierce, and Chauncey Billups. That’s a nice combination of offense, defense, and ball handling. Anyone of those guys can score 20+ on a nightly basis with the exception of Okur. The 1-2 punch of Jo inside and Paul Pierce outside will work nicely with Odom being able to handle the ball at SF like a PG. Then Billups can get his share of points and Okur will be a nice offensive player and rebounder.
Off the bench they have Darko, Childress, Zarko, and Lopez. That’s nice blend of offense and defense and not to mention talent.
Team outlook is good. They could in the BBS.
Chicago Bulls. They have Duncan, Garnett, Dirk, Webber, McGrady, and Lebron James. All of them are starters in my eyes. Duncan is dominate in the post and good defender. KG is tall and has great skills on the outside. A mismatchup for anyone. McGrady and Lebron are 2 of the top at their positions. Webber and Dirk adding more offense. Not much defense though.
Off the bench is Carlos Arroyo, Dan G., and Kerry Kittles. Not to mention either Dirk or Webber. That makes a real nice bench. Just better hope they stay healthy.
Team outlook is really nice. I think ultimately they will compete with Detroit in the ECF and whoever wins there is likely to win it all. Although there is a slim chance that they surprise some people and they could take out the Pistons or Bulls.
New York Knicks. Starting is Ben Wallace, Kenyon Martin, Ron Artest, James Posey, and Gary Payton. Can you say defense. And these are not some bad boys but each is a bad ass. A lot of defense here. You will have trouble scoring on them but they will have the same trouble scoring on you unless you forget to put a player in after a timeout or something. All I know is these guys would be my pick to defend the USA in any war.
Off the bench are Bruce Bowen, Trenton Hassell, Jeff McInnis, Mike Sweetney, and Jerome James. Pretty decent. As you can tell these guys are pretty decent defenders themselves. Although these guys will have more trouble than the starting five to score.
Team outlook is pretty good. Will get knocked out of the playoffs by Detroit or Chicago but they will defiantly compete.
Ultimately, I see these teams as the true top dogs. Denver, Houston, Phoenix, Indiana, LAL, and GS will make some noise but ultimately will be dethrone. I think that is how good the Pistons and Bulls are as you guys can guess. These teams are on the rise though. No doubt about that.
