Take a look at what Washington Wizard's GM Jordan Jones had to say about his team.
Your team recently acqiured Carmelo Anthony, how big of an impact do you see him having on your team this season?
" I believe that Carmelo will make a huge impact. He gives us another scorer and provides good rebounding. Carmelo instantly became our number one scoring option. We believe Melo is yet to play anything close to his best ball, and will bring championships to Washington. "
Do u feel your team has a set roster? Or do you feel you need to add something to the roster still?
" I believe there are still moves out there, but I feel good about my roster for this season and the future. At this point I don't see any moves being made, but I'm always looking for an improvement. "
Your team has gone 4-6 in their last ten games, why do you think that is?
" For the first few games of our 4-6 streak we were missing Peter Ramos and Damon Stoudamire. We feel both of the these players are important to our success. However, our shooting has been terrible as of late and key players have been getting in foul trouble. We just haven't been playing our game. "
What are your goals for the season?
" My realistic goals are to win the division and advancing at least to the second round of the playoffs. I believe our team is too young to make a real run, but there is still a lot of ball to be played and we feel in any given game we have a chance to come out victorious. Therefore, we feel that the Wizards can go the distance. "
Who all do you feel is your biggest competition in your division? Why?
" Well the Miami Heat are the returning division champions and are currently in first place. Along with the Heat I feel the Celtics and Nets can make a playoff push, but need to pick it up to make a division championship push. "
Here is what Atlanta Hawks GM Nate had to say about his team:
How do you think the recent additions of Reaf LaFrentz, Jarvis Hayes, and Kennedy Winston will help your team?
" Well lets start with Raef LaFrentz. He is about on the same level as Troy Murphy in my opinion. Raef adds some defense into my frontcourt aned does not have a horrible contract. It's big but this offseason i won't have caproom anyways so he will be expiring next year. I liked the draft pick i acquired and that is why I did it. Jarvis Hayes i got for relatively cheap and is a really nice option. After trading away Bonzi Wells and Stephen Jackson i felt like i needed a threat from SF and Warrick didn't seem ready to start yet. He should provide me with quality play for 30 minutes a night. Kennedy is decent and i like his game. 6.7 points a game off the bench is always nice. Adds some depth. "
Your team is relatively young aside from Ray Allen and Reaf LaFrentz, yet your young players, namely Peja Samardziski and Ben Gordon have been fantastic. As well as Jarvis Hayes. Were you suprised by their production?
" Ya i am extremely surprised and extremely happy. They are my building blocks for the future and when Ray starts to drop off in production i feel these youngins can step up. Peja is an amazing player and i think it was the first game i had him he had 24 points and 18 rebounds. Not many 19 year old europeans can put up those type of numbers. He even still has A potential. He recently had 31 and 10 and 25 and 12 games. Ben Gordon has been simply fantastic. He should be in the running for most improved player i think. Jarvis has done well too, i didnt expect double digits in the point column every game like hes done. "
Since they have played so well that makes your team competitive, do you feel there are any moves needed to be made? Rather its through the free agent wire or a trade?
" Well I am a spontaneous Gm and not one of those guys who has a plan from the start and will not do anything if it doesnt fit into the plan. If i get an offer than better's my team i will do it. I recieved a pretty tempting offer today and you could see a blockbuster involving Ray Allen soon. Stay tuned. "
Wow, interesting. Assuming your team stays as is what are your goals?
" Make the playoffs #1. Get out of the first round #2. Establish a chemistry through the players like Gordon, Peja, Jarvis, Warick who are all young and could be tough to beat in a few years #3."
That concludes the interviews. I would like to thank both Jordan and Nate for their time and for some great answers.
