GM Manas Rai returns for his second full year at the helm of the Knicks with renewed optimism. Known as an impartial GM willing to trade the most established of stars, Manas lived up to this reputation by entering this season with not a single player left over from his predecessor's team. But, the question most seem to be asking is if such optimism is justified. Many GM's have openly stated that the chances of the Knicks being a playoff team are slim, simply because the team is too young.
The GM released the following statement:
"I feel I have done everything within my power to secure the best lineup for the Knicks this season. Although we can clearly not match the star talent which other Eastern Conference teams can boast, I am optimistic that my lineup will outplay other teams. During my time as Rockets GM, I made the championships three times in four years. Not in a single one of those seasons could I have claimed to have the most talented roster in BBS. As a matter of fact, Hedo Turkoglu was my #1 option as a B B+ during one of the seasons we made the finals. We have brought in Jason Terry to run the point for our team, and the organization has complete faith in his abilities. Furthermore we have two playmakers on our roster in Mike Mercer and James Worthy. Also, we have a deep front court rotation, here we can boast four able big men. This team will definately feel some growing pains as I have not been able to fully impliment my style of play yet, but I hold much confidence in the ability of those on my roster."
All eyes will be on the Knicks as they begin their season this Sunday to find out if the team can live up to their GM's high expectations.
