Can the #1 overall pick become the BBS Rookie Of The Year?
Clyde Drexler had great success at the University of Houston. Teamed with Future BBS star Hakeem Olajuwon, the Cougars went to consecutive Final Four appearances. "Phi Slamma Jamma" put not only Drexler, but Olajuwon on the college basketball map. Now, as the number 1 selection in the 2012 BBS Draft, Drexler once again has some pressure to succeed. Can you handle the pressure? Will his new team, The Phoenix Suns, perform better now that Drexler is here?
If youve talked to Clyde, youd have to say yes, and yes.
Clyde Drexler has gotten supreme athletic ability. He excels at both ends of the court, and he seemingly makes everyone around him better. Also remember, Drexler isnt coming into a team that lacks talent. Longtime Sun, Reggie Theus is a perfect complimentary scorer. Point Guard Gilbert Arenas has shown year after year that he is an elite player. Bill Cartwright is one of the best young centers around. Put them all together, and what do you have? It would seem as though you have a playoff team.
The scoring is there. Drexler, Theus, Arenas and Cartwright can all put up 20 on any given night. The Suns have a small hole at power forward, but expect that to be filled in the offseason. defense has always been a problem for the Suns, and this year should be no different. Clyde realizes the importance of defense, and he has vowed to make sure his teammates have the same sense of urgency on the defensive end of the court, as they do on the offensive end of the court.
As for Drexler, how does he fare in the ROY race? At this point hes got to be the front runner. He should get as many shots as he wants, and hes already a very good defender. So what more could you want? Well Clyde wants to win too, and only time will tell if he has what it takes to take the Suns to the next level, the playoffs.
