Franchise Player OJ Mayo
Team Strengths The team’s strength lies in our starting lineup. We have legitimate All Star caliber players at every position. It’s rare that a player who scored 24 points per game last season, Mark Aguirre, is nothing more than the fifth option on this team behind Mayo, Johnson, Pierce, and Nance. Unlike previous Hornets teams, we also have depth this season, led by surprisingly efficient Marquis Daniels and a large amount of minimum players: Rodney White, Chris Anderson, Matt Haryaz, Carlos Delfino, and Chris Duhon.
Team Weaknesses The team is not without questions. How will we do losing franchise rock Shaun Livingston? How will Mayo score at point guard? Will the depth be enough? In the last question is where the weakness of our squad lies: though we’ve got an improved bench, we can still use another power forward or center, similar to now-departed Theo Davis.
Team Outlook: Championship, that’s the word they’re thinking about in New Orleans. We’ve won the most games in the Eastern Conference over the past two seasons (and perhaps the entire league, though at the moment Golden State’s total is unknown). Championship or bust.
