LeBron James - the league's leading scorer returns to the Sonics after much speculation of LeBron ending up in South Beach. LeBron won't score as much with Webster/Caracter on the team but he'll provide the leadership for this young team.
Team Strength
Starting lineup - not many teams can claim to have the starting lineup the Sonics have. MRR has blossomed into a top 5 point guard, he also picked up his first all first team defense last year. Webster was a leader on last year's Nets team and will be a deadly third option. LeBron James, see above. Caracter was the league's 4th leading scorer and Jeff Ruland is a double double every game.
Team Weakness
The bench is extremely weak. Despite having lots of cap room the Sonics did not improve the team's bench. Milos, Jiri, Damir, Skita, and Borch will serve as the primary backups. Nothing special but as long as they do the job the starters will take care of the rest.
Outlook
This season rides on the bench. As long as the bench holds their own there's no reason Seattle can't grab home court for the first round of the playoffs. The three options of LeBron, Caracter, and Martell are one of the best trios in the league. With a move or two there is no reason this team can't compete with the elite teams in the league.
