I don't get it... and a 1st round draft pick? Steal for New York. Raptors management sucks.

Naaa....Isiah takes another bloated contract for a guard...Davis was coming off the books this year which could have helped their cap situation but instead Isiah turns around and gets another decent player for a huge contract. The first round pick won't even be that good since it's Denvers if I remember correctly.
Tor. frees up some more space to keep Bosh around and even make a run at Nene or Peja in the offseason.
Great deal for Tor....another idiotic move by NY.

Uh, the move makes sense for both teams. The Knicks have a payroll more than double the salary, so Davis' contract is a nonfactor; the only thing that matters here is that the Knicks get a mid-first rounder in draft where 5-10 might be as good as 10-15, depending on who goes where. One thing everyone knows Zeke has is a great draft record, and the pick is crucial. The deal is consequential otherwise; Jalen's a two-year expiring, so cap relief will come from his contract like it would have from AD's. Just like it might come from Penny, if they keep him.
I'd be concerned if IT took on a contract a la Malik Rose or Maurice Taylor, but fact is, the Knicks are in cap hell, and no immediate relief is coming. Dealing an expiring for a two-year contract isn't a big deal--only thing it affects is luxury tax, which Dolan is pretty clearly willing to pay. He sucks, but this isn't really so egg-headed a deal. Getting the pick is a way of rebuilding on the run. It's pretty clear the team won't go full-swing rebuilding, especially with Larry around, so solidifying a core of youth is something I embrace.
That said, Rose isn't a bad addition. He hates LB, but I'm sure at this stage he's so happy to be gone from Toronto, and he's still got a lot of skill. The Knicks have gotten shit for production from the 2 and 3 lately, and though he's a defensive liability at times, this is a team that struggles for continuity within their offense, and he can contribute to ball-movement. If you've watched the team lately, every possession is artificial. Brown will call for the ball to go wherever it's going, nobody is cutting, and the top options have been reluctant to shoot. He's a nice addition on his own, though I'm much more geared towards next year, and the pick could turn out to be something nice. I don't mind dealing a washed-up expiring who was stealing minutes from Channing Frye in order to get that, even if AD is a great guy.
As far as Toronto goes, Aaron's dead on--it frees up room to re-up Bosh.

Yea, I agree with that statement that they're in cap hell...but you have to start somewhere and taking on another one for a year just doesn't make sense. Especially since Rose isn't what he once was and will never fit in LB's system. Hopefully the pick turns out to be good for NY but is the Denver pick going to be that high?

It won't, but the Knicks got Robinson and Lee and 23 and 30, if I recall correctly. That's not bad, considering their two firsts are projected right around there.

As a Raptor fan I cant say im thrilled we included a 1st and cash(3mil I believe)...but it's most likely that the pick will be in the 20's so it's not the end of the world. Enables us to make a run at a FA or two in the offseason(resigning Mike James, taking a shot at Nene or even Peja). Also opens up trade opportunities as we can take back $$.
