It since has been a year and a half since the present GM of the New Jersey Nets took over. The only GM in the BBS with the name of a loveable farm animal GM Pig's term in Jersey has been a roller coaster ride to say the least. "I have some done some stupid things as GM here, I have done some smart things but it has been a giant learning process for me, I don't regret my mistakes as just like my team I was young, as people say you learn from your mistakes and I have, things that I have done in the past wrong I have learned from and now im smarter so that I don't screw up when it really counts" Which brings up a question that has been sprouting among Net fans from Cape May to the Palisades "When will it count." Impatient Nets fans have been waiting anxiously for there team to get back to the Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson, Kenyon Martin glory days when they were feared throughout the East. "Were tired of hearing that we are "rebuliding" and that we are "young" said Randy an avid Nets fan from Jersey City "I speak on behalf on all proud Net fans who worship there team from every October to April, we need an answer."
GM Pig has been trying to reveal the "Answer" they have needed for such some time and now believes that he is on the right track to bringing the title back to the Garden State. In a blockbuster trade which was highly criticized by some of the Jersey faithful GM Pig got rid of the highly touted Martell Webster and Center Jeff Ruland for a bunch of guys who really havent performed much to the fans liking. When Nets fans read the New York Times headlines the next morning they all scratched there heads and asked "Who in the name of Lawerence Frank is Arron Affalo." "The greatest risk you can take is not taking one at all someone much more knowledgable then I told me one day" GM Pig said at his press conference monday afternoon " I traded away two proven players for three young players in Affalo, Moncrief and Bailey who I believe are the missing pieces to this puzzle that I have been trying to put together for the last year in a half."
The key player in this deal was Sidney Moncrief ( 6'4 190) a shooting guard who is going to be depended on as a scoring option in this Nets offense. "Hes a tough little critter" GM Pig said on Cold Pizza this morning "I know he can play tough, for someone his size he definley loves to hit the boards, the question we all wanna know is that can he fill the void that Martell left and put up the 20 points a night that we all expect him to put up, I think he can do it but well just have to wait and see"
The Nets also acquired PF James Bailey (6'9 220) from the Supersonics. "I love Bailey alot as soon as I knew I could get him I felt like a little boy at Christmas" Pig told Chad Ford the other day. " Playing basketball against Bailey is like playing basketball against a brick wall, defensively he could become one of the best players ever to take the court, Jeff (Ruland) gave us some offense and hit the boards hard though and another question that will arise is if James can put up the boards and scoring that Jeff did when he played for us."
The last piece of the deal that Pig acquired from the Sonics he thinks is a diamond in the rough which is Arron Affalo (6'5 205). Affalo is listed at the 2 but is most likely going to split time with Josh Smith at the 3 to start off the season. "I think we really got a steal here" Pig told Dan Rather the other day "He hasnt played that much but boy watching this guy in practice, he can really be something special."
So another season has come upon us and the Nets are loaded with young depth. "We might not be the strongest team in the BBS but were one of, if not the youngest team. We are going to make mistakes, but let me tell you we are going to out hustle any other team out there and we will have the advantage in close games" Nets fans hope that with Pig's latest deal he can truly find the answer everyone is looking for.
