The new ownership of the Chicago Bulls has brought in new blood at GM and with that in turn has re-molded the franchise in a BIG way.
First off in day one of the new regime, Jeff McDonald , recently hired GM,dealt away big time power forward and the bulls stellar 6thman Crhis Webber ( with a #1) packing his bags and heading east to boston in exchange for former #1 overall future stud pg Chris Paul, as well as a future #1( in the heavily regarde 2008 draft)Later thatsame night Jeff McDonald decided to add some youth to the organization in what many felt was a shocking move he dealt all star sf,Dirk Nowitzki to the GoldenState Warriors in exchange for another former #1 overall pick and future dominate pf in Emeka Okafor as well as promising young sf Qyntel Woods and added yet another future #1 pick in the 2007 draft. this deal was widley scrutinized by fellow gm's but McDonald seems to be wanting to put his stamp on this Bulls team and seems to be doing so very rapidly.
Finally a day after everyone thought the storm had calmed in the windy city , McDonald did the unthinkable, yes , he dealt away perennial allstar, all def , and multiple league andplayoff MVP ,Tim Duncan away to the New Jersey Nets( later dealt to nets cross town rival Knicks) in exchange for young superstar to be ( if not already) Yao Ming,c as well as promising young sg Brandon Rush, this deal was one that sent the BBS rocking and making the gm's around the league think that this new co called regime in chicago is nothign more then a mockery and at this rate will ruin the dynasty known as the BULLS, time will tell .
My perspective on these moves ( as a fan of the new GM ) is that the Bulls have not only remained argueably the best team in BBS, but at the same time have added players who will mesh better in time then the bulls of old, adding a true legit pg in Paul( lebron seems better suited to be a stud at the sf spot in the future) and adding a premiere young cheap pf in Okafor really gives this team flexibility and the type of team seemed better suited to fil the roles of team ball now .The future looks bright in the windy city , not that the past has been bad at all , but they pose an extremely young and formidable lineup for the future,
Yao at center, KG at pf( who was also locke dup long term with the BBS maximum contract offer), LeBron moving to small forward, Tmac at the sg spot and Paul running the show in the coming year, and having a talent like okafor as the 6th man who can play c or pf and the upside of young swingmen in Rush and Woods, not to mention the 6 future #1's ( 2 in each of the next 3 drafts) this team looks to be one of the best if not the best for many many seasons to come
I personally love the new regime in Chicago and am looking forward to seeing this team grow together, as im sure all the great fans in the windy city are as well.
