Newark Star-Ledger (registration required): "Golden State center Erick Dampier, a free agent who has somehow slipped under the radar as other big men have been offered surprisingly large contracts, is 'now a very high priority for Isiah,' according to a person close to the ongoing negotiations between the Knicks and Warriors. The Knicks would have to send Nazr Mohammed to Golden State plus another player with an expiring contract -- either Othella Harrington or Dikembe Mutombo -- and then reward Dampier with a seven-year deal starting at $9 million."
Nazr is a solid backup type, and an expiring contract is always good. Not exactly what I wanted, but better than nothing.

Now it seems as though the Wariors are considering Damp for Nazr and Harrington. Would give the Warriors a couple big bodies, but not exactly what i was hoping for.

While he is an upgrade at C over Nazr for the Knicks, im not completely sold on the idea of giving a 30 yr old guy whos really only had 1 big yr (his contract yr) a 7 year deal averaging more than 10 mil per yr.

I absolutely agree. Especially with his only good year being the the last of his contract. He could go back to his heartless, lazy play with his very large contract.

www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/25353.htmIT is up to Dampier now... the Knicks and Warriors have worked out the sign and trade (Mohammed and Harrington for Dampier) but Dampier is going to check out Atlanta and see if he likes it better. The Hawks can and will sign Dampier outright if they are given the chance.

is said to be dead on ESPN News
it also said Isiah is now pursuing Shareef Abdul-Raheem. The deal is reportedly Sweetney and Penny for him. I'm getting tired of starting New York threads so until I see some more on this, I'll leave it be.

No new news on Raheef trade but the Knicks offer to Dampier remains the best and still may occur? Who knows!

Damp was awful his first few years, so bad he couldn't even make a layup. He's a quality center, but I don't think he's worth as much as these teams seem willing to give him...but thats just the way this free agency has gone it seems like

It seems more an more the Warriors are just gonna let him walk. I really dont understand this for two reasons. First off Fegan will be pissed at the Warriors if Damp only gets the MLE. And with him representing JRich and Murphy, it doesnt bode well. Secondly, the Knicks offer isnt that bad, Mohammed is talented, and Harrington is a 1yr deal and then hes gone. I think the Warriors need to try and acquire some tradeable commodities, and Mohammed is that.
