As the Pistons were down two to one in their series against the Bucks, Coach Krupimpski made an adjustment and turned up the pressure. Playing at home the Pistons were undefeated this playoffs and that speaks volume of the people of Detroit. “They were with us from the beginning of the season all the way till the end and we’re sorry we couldn’t bring that trophy back home.” Said Kobe Bryant in a post game interview. Some BBS sources said the problem was that the Pistons lacked a third scoring option and maybe could have used an upgrade at the SG position. When questioned about this matter GM Krupimpski responded, “We acknowledge constructive criticism but we are committed to what is best for our franchise now without sacrificing what’s best for our future.” The Pistons were reluctant to deal their 2012 first round draft picks or some of their bench to try and get a veteran to make a push for the finals this year. “We felt we had enough talent to win a championship this year and that’s why we went to bat with the team that we had.” GM Krupimpski stated. The Pistons could have won the title this year but fell 1 basket short of finding out if they could. The Pistons came storming back with twice their backs against the wall winning in game 4 and game 6. Their wins were convincing and their losses were devastating losing very close match ups. Missed free throws will be the haunting of the Pistons this series. In Game 7, which the Pistons lost by 1, they missed 5 free throws which could have been the difference. Although this was clearly not as big as game 1 when the Pistons lost by 2 while missing 10 free throws going 14-24 from the line. If Game 1 was won then there would have not even been a game 7. Either way the Pistons are bringing back 14 of their 15 players for next season and the developments of Hairston and Williams the Pistons should be right back in the shuffle for the Title next year. To leave you with a key stat in game 7 the combination of Bryant and O’Neal combined for 57 points while the combination of Johnson and Blatche combined for 58 points which makes for a difference of 1 point. The young Bucks, Magic and Blatche, have shown the youth is rising in the BBS but Kobe and O’Neal guarantee the Pistons still have some bullets left in their guns and will be ready to fire next season at will.
