Cavs contacted Knicks about this type of swap that would make Z a Knick and KT and another Knick (likely Mohammed or Mutombo) a Cav
The talks are just preliminary but the Cavs want a replacement for Boozer and are probably thinking they cant resign Z, and since money doens't matter in NY they obviously can

I think NY is making this move because of Miami getting Shaq.
Cavs, I don't see why they are doing this to be honest. A replacement for Boozer? They just offered him 1 year at 5 million dollars reported on Hoopshype.com. Why do they want to add KT and his contract when Z gives them cap space to re-sign Boozer next summer if he acceps is beyond me.

It is still unknown who Boozer is going to because he has reportedly told both the Cavs and Jazz that he will sign with them.
Most teams trade their players with value that have expiring contracts because they will at least get something in return. Which is what the Cavs are trying to do here. The Cavs started the talks so something must be in the works with Z.
