Next year we will have a modified extension rule. Extensions are a huge pain in the butt, and have really made the FA period a huge bore. Starting next year teams will have the ability to offer only 1 contract offer. This one offer can only be a MAX offer. So essentially you will be able to retain a "star" player with a MAX contract, but any other FA's will go to free agency. This will greatly increase the FAs available, and the excitement of the FA period.

Yeah, I have to admit the FA process here hasn't been my favorite. This will help some.
