I was thinking that we could pm Spencer our free agent offers. I think this would make all gms consider the value of each player and would not allow anyone to go by what others offer.
Nothing happened that made me suggest this, just more of a random thought.
I think the downside is it probably would be a pain for Spencer to orgainize the offers.
It is being done this way in another league so that is where the idea came from.

I like your idea, but i could care-less bout free agency. I never do anything in free agency in any sim and always manage to do decent. If your a good enough GM i guess you could say you don't need free agency. Plus, you will never have long horrible contracts if you dont sign via free agency. If people choose to overbid, it will only hurt them in the long run.... Just my ideas.

If you're lucky and know the amount of money to offer somebody... you can build a contender using FA.
I remember going from a last place team in one league, dealt everybody to free up cap space and get youth... then signed Elton Brand, Tony Parker, Ilgauskas, and Stromile Swift in the off-season... was a playoff contender from there.
In this league though it's almost impossible though to contend via FA, so yeah I suppose you're right... all the stars in this league have been locked up to long term contracts thanks to the ability to offer different types of Max contracts during in-season. So, yeah, basically teams like me, are going to have to overpay with trades to get a superstar on their team.

Agreed. And agreed.
However, in most cases those teams that are rich in stars have had to overpay to acquire the star talent that was available. I admit to being able to get through on not overpaying in a circumstance or two, but I think if you asked the teams with stars or multiple stars, they would answer that you got to overpay for the #1 and #2. Then, rebuild through small trades again.
