Home teams?

How are home teams decided for the players? I was looking over a few, and IMO, there are other teams that make more sense as being the home team than the one listed. Curious what the criteria was.

Most of the hometowns are fictional, as they were in the original roster set when I purchased the game. As I make new draft players I try to make them more realistic.
